And in a quiet corner of Asakusa, someone wants a building badly enough to kill for it.

When a foreign correspondent returns from the edges of war to bury his mother, he finds a different kind of battlefield waiting at home. His thirteen-year-old sister, Miki, is all that stands between a small, stubborn property and the men determined to take it—yakuza fixers, a debt-ridden cop, and a system that doesn’t bother pretending to be fair.

What starts as pressure—threats, broken windows, quiet visits—turns uglier fast.
