Detective David Webb hasn't had a case for a while, the bills are piling up and even his steady intake of bourbon and cigarettes can't seem to make things any better, so when a mysterious and alluring woman offers him a case that's too good to be true he can't refuse. Things are looking up for detective David Webb, he is balancing the books, taking regular cases and has even hired himself a secretary.
But when he is given a case of a man wrongfully accused of murdering his wife, he is soon led on a wild hunt for answers in an insane asylum that is strangely quiet, secrets and lies at every turn, and suspicious activity in a laundromat.
Murder on the Bayou
The cases have piled up and Webb has steadily worked through them all, business is booming and since there's a temporary lull, his secretary has convinced him to take a vacation. His elusive partner Barton has even contacted him with the intention of meeting up aboard a paddle steamer tour of the bayou.
However the vacation will turn out to be just another descent into the murky world of plots, betrayal and murder. Even when Webb is avoiding trouble it seems to track him down.
