Indie Movie: "Where Even Shadows Fear to Tread" (Guest post)

One of the most fascinating mediums in storytelling is film. We’ve all seen movies. In fact, I imagine they’ve taken up many hours of our lives. And so, when I was given the opportunity to participate in the production of one by a dear friend of mine, it’s no small wonder that I agreed to it immediately.
About three years ago, Jarrod Christman reached out to me on a recommendation to edit his fantasy novel and help him refine the epic tale. In the course of working with him, after getting over a minor case of fanboying when I realized he was the same Jarrod Christman of the metal band Corpus Christi, which was a favorite of mine when I was young, Jarrod told me he had produced a movie called Missouri Breaks: The Ballad of Missouri Bill. We networked for a while, and when the film was finished, there was a virtual screening of the movie that I sat in on. It was amazing for a low-budget indie project. Wonderfully written, evocative, engaging with its set pieces, and all done on a shoestring budget.
And after everyone else attending the screening had gone, Jarrod said to me, “I want to do something modern with the next film. Like a mystery or a thriller. Would you be interested in writing it with me?”
What came of that question, I present to you now. Where Even Shadows Fear to Tread.
We do not do punchy short-named films here at Rising Tide Media Group.
'Where Even Shadows Fear to Tread' is a psychological thriller about what happens when fear stops being imagined…and starts watching back.
Marcus Fulton, a disgraced NCIS agent, returns to his small town to rebuild his life and applies his military skills to a position as a detective, only to catch a case that could change not only his life, but the course of his hometown’s future. Ritualistic serial killings. Out of his depth, Marcus turns to an outsider, a specialist in these types of predators: Dr. Charles Moll, a former FBI profiler with a unique understanding of the abnormal mind. He shares many of the same traits as the men and women he hunts, seeking to understand himself through them.
While Marcus is caught in chaos, trying to restore order, Charles has built an orderly life to stave off the chaos of his own mind. Together, they must unravel the mystery and end this vicious threat before more innocent lives are taken in the service of a truly sinister, possibly supernatural evil. They must walk boldly… Where Even Shadows Fear to Tread.
Rising Tide Media Group has taken on this ambitious project of cinematic storytelling on its own, but with the help of the indie community and anyone who truly loves classic film over the boring offerings of modern entertainment, we can take this project to the next level.
