A Red Cardinal With The Black Wings

In the departed America of 1897, an Ohio River Valley community experiences a visit from a mysterious stranger: "he was dressed similar to a priest, but he was no holy man."

Nearby, the Evans family tries to survive the toils of the homestead by maintaining their love for each other. The newcomer to town, who fatally stole the name 'Ebsen', soon disturbs the Evans' cohesion.

The Evans family will require help in their trials by fire, particularly from the Reverend Richards, a wandering holy man who goes to any lengths to save his congregation from the bowels of hell.

Flying above a wrecked fairground, cawing outside the slaughterhouses of Chicago, or trapping victims inside of their own mind, Ebsen uses his controlling hands to firmly clench his hickory walking stick and Book of Souls, determining judgment of not only the Evans family, but perhaps of the entire world.
