The Book of Mook
by Philip D. Wyatt
The Book of Mook is a blend of true-life tale and fantastic fable, passed down through the lips of a friend.
The fantasy story begins with an alternate telling of the origins of the Universe, introducing us to a number of beings who once lived upon the Earth, long before humankind. Fiffle, the first of the creatures known as mookeys, embarks upon a quest to rid the world of negativity, which has begun to poison the land with seemingly sinister energy. But as Fiffle will learn, both negative and positive energies are necessary to maintain the careful balance of harmony, the glue which holds everything together.
The true story wedged in-between these writings concerns Mark Bartlett, a college friend of the author who muttered and uttered the mookey tales to him over the numerous times spent in his company, all the time assuring him that they did not come from his own mind, but somewhere else, beyond the thin fabric of reality.
Through the many scribbled pages of Mark's musings, the author begins a quest of his own to remember his old friend and bring these fabulous fables out into the world, where perhaps they can inspire others as they, to this day, still continue to inspire him.
This is the debut novel of Philip Wyatt which has been unknowingly in the works ever since he first heard Mark Bartlett utter that fateful 'mook'.
