Four-year-old Emily Norton has a strange experience in the back garden of her house that leaves her with the ability to control electricity. Seven years later, she encounters a peculiar phenomenon in her school: there is a man trapped in an electrical cloud. Convinced he is a ghost, and intrigued that she alone can animate him, Emily happily embarks on an adventure as she tries to understand the phenomenon, talk to the ghost, navigate school, avoid the bullies, understand boys, hide the danger from her parents, and go to university, all with the aim of one day liberating the man from the cloud.

The adventure takes Emily from the small English village she grew up in, to school in the nearby town and then university in the city, where she meets a professor tragically connected to a laboratory accident, whose help she needs to rescue the ghost. All the while, she is supported by her friends, her family, an understanding teacher, and by the ghost, whom she likes more and more.

Girl and Ghost is suitable for adults, young adults, and any reader who likes an adventure with humour, science fiction and a man trapped in an electrical cloud who might not be a ghost after all.
