The Long Journey

George Massey never expected his life to become a journey.

Forced from his Cherokee homeland and sent west to Indian Territory, George collapses along the way, certain he has been left behind to die. Instead, he finds help in an unexpected place: a Kentucky farm belonging to the McGregor family. There he meets Ellie, a young woman whose kindness changes the course of his life. Their friendship grows into love, and soon George and Ellie begin a new life together, but building a family in a divided and changing nation won’t be easy. They face prejudice, hardship, difficult choices, and the uncertainty of leaving everything familiar behind.

When circumstances eventually force the family to move again, George and Ellie must trust God as they leave their home and begin another long journey, this time toward California and a future neither of them can predict. Through loss, love, family, and faith, George discovers that home isn’t always a place. Sometimes it’s the people who walk beside you, and the God who guides the journey.
